Saturday’s Shoot

Monday, February 27th, 2006

This weeks shoot looks to be a resounding success. With the help of Matt Sanchez and Dave Lane, SR shot for about 10 hours on Saturday. I’m editing right now and it looks really nice. I have 4 scenes done at the moment. Watching this movie will be like taking a big bite out of an awkward sandwich. Yum.

Eric Reads Books

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

In an effort to further personalize the Sweaty Robot experience, I’m going to give you a window into my soul. Right now I’m reading…a book. It’s very interesting so far (about half way in) and if I were doing a 3rd Grade Book Report, I’d have to say I recommend it. It’s called Women by Charles Bukowski. I’m borrowing it from Chuck.

Shooting today

Saturday, February 25th, 2006

SR is shooting a new short today, probably called BFF, or something close to that. This week we have special guest stars Matt Sanchez and Dave Lane (Kerner’s Quick Lube) in the house. We’re shooting with a lighting kit, C-stand, and a Sony PD-170, which is a change from the normal stuff: A piece of moldy bread and a wire coathanger.

BFF: Matt, armed with a bag of groceries and a ‘When Harry Met Sally’ DVD, tries to seal the deal with Susan, but her cockblocking, dickhead roommate, Eric gets in his way.

The inspiration for this one comes from SR’s real life encounters with Best Friend Cock Blockers. Sure, they used to date the girl for like a week, and sure everyone involved is TOTALLY over it, but they just don’t want to see the other person getting hurt. The Best Friend Cock Block is always secretly in love with the girl, and even if you were Superman, you’d be the wrong guy. Although, Superman’s always leaving to fight crime– very unstable.

Anyways, this one should be edited in about a week. Later!

Ghosts Etc #2

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

We’re finally DONE editing this thing. There Steve, it’s done. Look at it. You probably won’t like it anyways. Jk, jk. Not really.

Make sure to listen until the very end, there’s a little funny easter egg in there.

Delicious Cookies

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Very soon now, a groundbreaking new short film will hit Sweaty Robot. Titled “Seduction of a Thin Mint,” this avant-garde piece opens doors to a realm never approached before. The way I see it, Softcore-Food-Human-Quasi-Porn set to soft rock has a future. Let me explain how this whole thing came to be. There was a party at The House (where we shoot our stuff) and everyone was having a good old fun time. I randomly found a sleeve of thin mint cookies. I told Ben how I liked the cookies and that I’d make love to them. Sure, it probably sounded like “Theese crookies is taste fun in my mouth. I’d lick them iff’n theys were. HEY, don’t touch my– Oh, cooookie” since I was drunk, but who cares. An idea was sparked. I called out to Juan, “BRING FORTH THE VIDEO CAMERA!” I tipped the lamp to create a pleasing light on my face, so I would look cooler, and Juan rolled the tape. The original sound to the movie has Lionel Richie crooning in the background and served my performance. What didn’t help was Mike and Bill throwing things like change at me to distract me. I held fast that it was funny then, and would be funnier later, once edited and internetted. I still believe it. You’re going to love this idiocy.

Podcast #5

Monday, February 20th, 2006

Oh, what to say about the latest Podcast? We all got together to discuss two things. 1) A 20 minute short we’re kicking around 2) This weekend’s newest short about a guy on a date with a girl and her cockblocking best friend roommate.

We discussed both and took a break to joke around on the microphone machine for a while. We sat in Ben’s room and ate most of the cashews he bought. He wasn’t too thrilled.

New Video Coming!

Monday, February 13th, 2006

We shot a new ‘episode’ of Ghosts Etc this weekend. Things got pretty silly during the six hour (or more) shoot, and it looks like there’ll be an ‘Extra Footage That is Funny, but Ruins the Short Because it’s Too Silly’ video for it as well.
