These past few weeks I have been involved in a consumer feast of sorts. First, I bought a sweet bed frame and mattress (Only at Mattress Giant, ooh-ahh.)
With a quick search on Craigslist I found the bed frame for around $75 less than IKEA, plus it came with those wooden slat things, which cost something like $30.
Lou helped bring the bed frame to the car, while his girlfriend watched. They were both pleasant. That was my first Craigslist friend.
Then I bought a new TV. After customizing a little script from Yahoo Pipes, I was alerted about the TV I was looking for via iGoogle. After emailing back and forth, I drove over to West Chester to meet Ed, a friendly fat dude. He welcomed my driving partner and me into his apartment, where we sat down for some “Finding Nemo.” We had some good small talk and played with some TV settings.
Ed didn’t once try to murder me. In fact, he helped bring the TV to the car. Thanks Ed.
Then my phone broke. I knew exactly who to turn to. Craig, and his wonderful list. Within a few days the Yahoo Pipes script found a phone I liked in West Philly. I just got back from the hood where I gave Langston $100 for the phone (LG VX8700), home AND car charger, and a 1GB microSD card. Beat that, Best Buy.
Thanks, Craigslist. You rule.
*** EDIT ***
I forgot, I also bought a $20 video card from a nice kid who spoke broken English. I saved like $20 bucks.
